MALAPPURAM: Five more persons from
Kerala's Malappuram district tested positive for novel coronavirus infection on Thursday. Three of the infected persons are Gulf returnees while other two infected persons, including a woman, are Mumbai returnees. With five more positive cases reported in Malappuram on Thursday the number of total active cases has become 11.
The infection was confirmed in a 27-year-old man from Anappadi near Thriprangode, who returned from Abu Dhabi, a 44-year-old man hailing from Velimukku South near Munniyur who returned from Dubai, a 60-year-old man from Cherani near Manjeri who also returned from Dubai, a 31-year-old man and his brother's wife from Veliyankode who returned from Mumbai. They have been admitted to Government Medical Collehe Hospital (GMCH) in Manjeri.
Thriprangode native was working as house driver in Baniyas East in Dubai. He was staying along with other five persons in a room in Dubai. He returned to Karipur in a repatriation flight on May 7 and he was shifted to Covid care centre in Calicut University hostel. On May 11, he was shifted to medical college hospital after he revealed that he had symptoms of infection prior to leave Dubai.
Munniyur native was tanker lorry driver in Ajman in UAE and he was staying in a flat in Jurf industrial area in Ajman. He returned to Karippur on May 7 and he was shifted to Covid care centre in Safa hospital in Kalikavu. After developing symptoms of infection he was shifted to medical college on May 12.
Manjeri native was working as sales executive in an advertising firm in Al Qusaiz in Dubai. He had close contact with a Malayali man who tested positive for the virus infection at Dubai. He returned to Kannur from Dubai on May 12 and he was shifted to GMCH on May 13.
It was on May 10 that the infected man from Veliyankode returned from Mumbai at his home, along with his brother, brother's wife and brother's son. His brother's wife also tested positive for infection on Thursday.
